Peter Tufano is the Peter Moores Professor of Finance at Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford. From 2011 through 2021, he was the Peter Moores Dean of the school. From 1989 through 2011, he was a Professor at Harvard Business School. Tufano’s research agenda spans household finance and ESG/climate finance. His work on household finance includes empirical research on family financial fragility and financial institutions, the creation of national research groups on household finance, engagement in policy debates in the US and UK, and the founding of buildcommonwealth.org. His work is credited with influencing a number of policy changes in the US, including the passage of the American Savings Promotion Act. His more recent work on ESG and climate finance looks at how ownership structure of corporations is related to their commitments to broader stakeholder interests. In the 2021-22 academic year, he will be a Visiting Professor at Harvard Business School and a Visiting Scholar at Harvard Kennedy School. Tufano earned his AB (Economics, summa cum laude), MBA (with high distinction) and PhD from Harvard University; has been certified under the Sustainability and Climate Risk programme at GARP, and is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Science.
